Sign-ups will be the night of & the list fills up quickly, so if you want to perform, you’d better get there early…
If you’re going to perform, keep it under 5 MINUTES. That’s right: 5 MINUTES. WE WILL TIME YOU. And we will hug you when we have to stop you [just to make it easier on you (or harder – depending on your propensity for intimacy)].
Poetry, prose, music, dancing, comedy, drama, happy, sad, & on & on & on… Remember: EVERYTHING GOES… so do whatever you want.
You don’t have to perform anything; the audience is as essential as the performers.
Please don’t perform anything with a setup that takes much more time than the time it takes for you to walk onstage. Honestly, plugging things in is endlessly boring. If you need to borrow an instrument, figure it out before you’re called to the stage.
IMPORTANT ::: DON’T TAKE YOURSELF SO SERIOUSLY. Come and have fun. The end. Remember. Someday, we won’t exist and neither will the English language. If you choose to take yourself seriously, then take yourself so seriously that it’s stupid. Ridiculousness is encouraged. You're Going to Die. No. Really. You are.

You're Going to Die Presents: LIVING EULOGIES - an Open Mic to Honor Our Living [Before They’re Dead!] @ The Lost Church - San Francisco!!!
TICKETS HERE: https://tinyurl.com/livingeulogies1010
This LIVING EULOGIES show offers people the unique opportunity to eulogize the living, by sharing poems, prose, or song for that someone… WHO ISN'T DEAD YET!
Hosted by Chelsea Coleman
at The Lost Church - San Francisco
988 Columbus Ave
San Francisco, CA 94133-2310
Doors at 7:30pm.
Show at 8pm.
All performances end at 10:30pm.
Seating is first come, first served.
Invite your loved one, your friend, your partner, your family... & take this chance to say everything you want to say while you still have the chance to say it.
Yes, you can eulogize yourself.
*And if you felt the need to re-euologize someone, someone you've eulogized before & want to do it again, OR someone you never got the chance to eulogize, there will be some room for this as well.
IF YOU ARE BRINGING THE PERSON YOU ARE EULOGIZING TO THE SHOW, YOU CAN SECURE YOUR SPOT ON THE LIST IN ADVANCE. We understand this offering might take more preparation, and out of respect for your time and the burden of logistics, we don’t want to risk you writing something AND bringing the person with you, just to run out of time (although that would be a good death practice - preparation is no guarantee of ANYTHING happening the way we plan)
Please email connect@yg2d.com to get on the performer list IF and only IF you are bringing the person with you that you are Living Eulogizing.
There will still be plenty of sign-up spots available the night-of the event for eulogies for folks who aren’t present, as well as other spontaneous eulogy-adjacent shares.

Sonya Renee Taylor is a New York Times best-selling author, world-renowned activist and thought leader on racial justice, body liberation and transformational change, international award winning artist, and founder of The Body Is Not an Apology (TBINAA), a global digital media and education company exploring the intersections of identity, healing, and social justice through the framework of radical self-love. In her book of the same name, The Body Is Not an Apology: The Power of Radical Self-Love, Sonya lays out her radical self-love vision, arguing that all people arrive on this planet in a state of self-love before internalizing messages of shame and injustice from systems of oppression. Healing, Sonya suggests, takes place through reconnecting with our inherent divine enoughness, transforming how we live in and relate to both our bodies and the bodies of others. - https://www.sonyareneetaylor.com/
The Bengsons, Abigail & Shaun, are a married composing and performing duo based in NYC and VT who have performed across the country and around the world. Their video for "The Keep Going Song" has been viewed over 4 million times. Three of their singles have been featured on “So You Think You Can Dance” (FOX). She draws inspiration from desert landscapes — inviting listeners into the depths of a raw, beautiful, and expansive human experience. Her recently released album A Wider View (May 2024) is inspired by themes such as death, generational heartbreak, forgiveness, transformation, compassion, and true love. A Wider View explores the larger perspective we gain when someone we love passes and how embracing your mortality can inspire a life full of purpose. Gathering musical influence from the likes of Courtney Barnett, Phoebe Bridgers, Weyes Blood, Joni Mitchell, and Sheryl Crow, this record is part rock, part Americana, and part folk singer-songwriter.

You're Going to Die: Poetry, Prose & Everything Goes...
is an open mic event, the communal offering for us to explore the conversation of death & dying, to embrace our losses & mortality, to grieve, bereave & honor those we’ve lost & love… while all the while making room for simply being ALIVE.
No. Really. You are.

*John Elliott is a songwriter, performer, and musician. He has toured in 49 of the 50 “United” States, all over the European “Union,” and has released sixteen albums in a conglomeration of genres since 2004. The fifth installment in an ongoing series of loosely related recordings released quadrennially during US presidential election years was released this May. He went viral once and doesn’t necessarily recommend it. He loves YouTube and the literary magazine “The Sun.” He believes most urban car trips can be replaced by walking, transit, or riding a bike. He lives in San Francisco with his partner and their son.

Whether our own deaths feel near or far away, whether we have the privilege of coasting through life in denial of our eventual deaths & the deaths of those we love, or whether we are face to face with it all too often - most of us have something to say about it. In a world that would rather sweep sadness, anger, confusion, & grief under the rug, we will make a space for it together.

Meaning Out of Mortality Writing Workshop - San Francisco
You're Going to Die Presents:
Grief & Healing
w/Writing & Music
a YG2D Workshop
REGISTER NOW: https://bit.ly/47u3kdp
This 3 hour in-person communal workshop offers a chance to creatively express ourselves and engage with our own and our collective grief & healing through writing and music. It’s a chance to connect to community, remember we are not alone, and tap into our innate wisdom to creatively face our unique experiences of being mortal.
In this workshop, we’ll write in response to several prompts, in intimate community, co-creating a space of deep sharing and listening. There will be readings and rituals offered, with time to write quietly together and to share if you want to, including live music to inspire our writing, for grounding, deepening, integration, and to hold us like musical medicine when we need it. The workshop will close with a sound bath from Emma Peck (https://www.soundandsoulsf.com/) to support integration through the healing vibrations of crystal alchemy bowls and vocals.
Our goal is to facilitate a safe space for vulnerable creative communal engagement with our grief, with those who are willing to face what's hard and hold it together.
WHEN: Thursday, November 30th from 7-10pm PST
LOCATION: The Center SF’s Red Room - 548 Fillmore Street, San Francisco, CA 94117
PRICE: Sliding Scale $40-120
We offer the workshop on a sliding scale, but ask about further financial support if you need it to attend!
***Full scholarships available for our BIPOC community***

COVID SAFETY INFORMATION (YG2D POLICIES)
As an organization that congregates around our shared mortality, it is important for us to acknowledge the real threat of Covid-19, especially for folks who are immune-compromised. For our shared safety, we are offering the following risk-mitigation measures and venue information to create a safer, more inclusive gathering space:
• Capacity of the Red Room is 40 seated, but we will have a workshop capacity of 17 to allow for spaciousness and distancing as needed.
• The space will have air filters and there will be windows to open to maximize air flow.
• We request that each participant take a rapid antigen test on the same day of the workshop. We can provide a test for you if needed. Here is an updated guide for self-administering a rapid-test for the most accurate results: https://www.ontariohealth.ca/sites/ontariohealth/files/2022-02/COVID-19RapidAntigenTests-HowtoCollectaSample.pdf
• We request that participants be as up to date as possible with available COVID vaccines and boosters.
• We ask that if you feel any illness symptoms to please stay home. We are happy to provide a refund as needed.
• We encourage masks while in the space. Please be aware that The Center has multiple shared spaces with varying degrees of risk and that people/participants may not be wearing masks.
We understand that no in-person gathering is without risk and we are grateful for your help in keeping our community alive and safe.
