WALK US HOME by Amanda Nagai
For the first time ever, as an organization, YG2D [501(c)3 non-profit] is publishing a book of poetry!! We chose Amanda Nagai’s manuscript, WALK US HOME, for her transformative articulation of healing and living with the aftermath of suicide loss.
I had the incredible honor of being a close witness to Amanda during the time she was writing these poems, seeing the way she harnessed the art of poetry to alchemize and move through the unimaginable. Her wisdom and capacity for catalyzing pain into new growth has been inspiring and instructive.
It is our wish that you and your loved ones have access to the wisdom and vulnerability in this collection of poems. We believe this book will be a helpful companion to anyone who is grappling with and navigating grief around sudden deaths, especially when someone has ended their own life, and for anyone wanting more insight into the impact of these kinds of losses on friends and community members.
You can hear Amanda read two of the poems in this books, along with beautiful videos she created here: Fall Apart, Walk Us Home
By purchasing this book, you’re not only supporting the author, but also supporting our organization’s work inside San Quentin facilitating peer-support suicide prevention training as well as our Alive Inside program, fostering spaces for creative expression around grief and loss inside prisons throughout the country.
Thank you so much for supporting Amanda and our organization in getting this powerful book out into the world.
